About this place
Bakachin is known for filling bowls of ramen topped with generous slices of chashu pork. Its signature tonkotsu soy ramen pairs thick noodles with a rich, full-bodied broth finished with back fat. The tender chashu and braised pork belly add another satisfying dimension, with plenty of savoury meat flavour.
There is a good range of noodle dishes, from prawn miso and miso curry ramen to a soy-sauce chūka soba that puts a contemporary spin on a traditional style. The menu also includes rich niboshi ramen, mazesoba and, in summer, chilled chūka noodles, offering different options from one visit to the next.
Rice dishes make an appealing addition to a bowl of noodles. The braised pork rice and braised pork belly rice are well-seasoned accompaniments, and rice is also a popular match for the rich curry broth.
Counter seating makes Bakachin a place for a daytime ramen meal as well as an evening drink and a few snacks. Pair a three-item platter, gyoza or miso-marinated grilled pork with beer or one of the sours, then finish with ramen. Payment is by cash only, so bring cash along.
